My First Juicer!

Last night my friend Laura and I tried out my new juicer that my mother bought for my birthday. I hadn’t had any time recently to try it out, and I was pretty excited to see what it could do. The closest thing I have had to a juicer was a hand-me-down blender from my sister, that couldn’t even blend applesauce if it tried! And after hosting thanksgiving, I had a bit of leftover fruit to use up. What better way that creating a concoction of sweetness? Putting the juicer together was a bit of a challenge, however. It’s a bit more complex than a simple blender. It even has a digital screen for crying out loud! It’s called the Breville ikon Multi-Speed Juice Fountain. No idea what that really means, as far as juicers go, but it sounds high tech eh?

We ended up drinking a lovely, quite citrus-y pink drink with a nice touch of sweet. Enough for two full drinks and one left for me this morning. Which I just so happen to bring drinking right now. =) I was pretty impressed with the way the machine could separate the pulp in one quick motion. Not to mention how crazy it was to watch it go through! There’s something almost liberating about putting a load of fruit inside it, and push it down and watch the gooey and yummy innards fly out!

To create this girlie and yummy drink we used the following:

1 1/4 small Watermelon

1 1/2 Cantaloupe

1 Lime

1 Lemon

1 Orange

1 Pear

2/3 cup Cranberries

A dash of Sprouts

I’d be very interested if anyone else has a juicer and knows some neat ideas for drinks? Next time I want to try making a vegetable juice of some sort. I’ll let ya know how it turns out.

Mmm, that sounds delicious. This is another good combination: 3 parts mango, 2 parts pear, 2 parts carrot, 2 parts apple.
